Description

Baked Apple Halves are a warm, comforting dessert featuring tender apples topped with a cinnamon-spiced brown sugar and butter mixture, baked to caramelized perfection. Easy to make and naturally sweet, they’re perfect served on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala), halved and cored

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans), optional

  • Honey or maple syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.

2️⃣ Prepare apples: Place apple halves cut-side up in the baking dish.

3️⃣ Mix topping: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts (if using).

4️⃣ Fill apples: Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over each apple half. Top each with small pieces of butter.

5️⃣ Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender and caramelized.

6️⃣ Serve: Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired. Serve warm on their own or with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Choose firm apples that hold their shape when baked.

  • You can swap nuts for raisins or oats for different textures.
