Description

This colorful twist on classic muddy buddies combines white chocolate, cherry flavor, and cheesecake pudding mix over crispy cereal for a dessert snack that’s great for parties, movie nights, or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal

  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips or vanilla candy melts

  • 1 tbsp shortening or coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

  • 1 packet (3.4 oz) cheesecake instant pudding mix (dry)

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • ½ tsp cherry extract (or 1 tsp cherry gelatin powder for flavor/color)

  • Red or pink food coloring (optional, for cherry color pop)

  • ½ cup dried cherries or cherry chips (optional mix-in)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips with shortening in 20-second intervals, stirring between, until smooth. Stir in cherry extract and a few drops of food coloring if using.

2️⃣ Mix the cereal: Place cereal in a large mixing bowl. Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and gently stir to coat evenly.

3️⃣ Coat with flavor: In a large zip-top bag, combine pudding mix and powdered sugar. Add coated cereal and shake until evenly covered.

4️⃣ Cool and add mix-ins: Spread on parchment to cool and dry. Once set, mix in dried cherries or cherry chips if desired.

5️⃣ Serve or store: Keep in an airtight container for up to a week. Serve in a bowl or pack into cute bags for a sweet gift!

Notes

  • You can use strawberry pudding mix if cheesecake isn’t available, and add a spoonful of softened cream cheese to the melted chocolate for a tangy touch (just store chilled).

  • Add crushed graham crackers for a “crust” vibe.
