These Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes are a spicy, smoky twist on the classic comfort food. Ground chicken is simmered in a tangy, flavorful sauce with bell peppers and Cajun spices, then piled high on toasted buns. Quick, easy, and full of Southern flair!
Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 tbsp olive oil

½ onion, finely chopped

½ green bell pepper, finely chopped

½ red bell pepper, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp tomato paste

¾ cup tomato sauce

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1½ tsp Cajun seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

4 burger buns, toasted

Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Cook ground chicken until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula.
2️⃣ Sauté veggies: Add onion and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and tomato paste; cook 1 more minute.
3️⃣ Simmer the sauce: Add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
4️⃣ Toast the buns: While the filling simmers, toast burger buns until golden.
5️⃣ Assemble and serve: Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the buns. Top with slaw, pickles, or cheese if desired. Serve hot!
