  • Author: Chef Ethan Sam
  • Total Time: 28 minute

Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade:
– 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– Salt and pepper to taste

For the Chicken Coating:
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Pizza:
– 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
– 1 cup pizza sauce
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– ½ cup pickles (for topping)
– 1 tablespoon Nashville hot chicken seasoning (or to taste)

Instructions

Creating Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza is straightforward if you follow these steps:

1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken thighs and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix together the flour, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

3. Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess liquid drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.

4. Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes per side. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain.

5. Preheat the Oven: While the chicken is cooking, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

6. Prepare the Pizza Dough: Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

7. Assemble the Pizza: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese, then layer the fried chicken on top. Add the remaining mozzarella cheese.

8. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

9. Add Toppings: Once out of the oven, sprinkle the Nashville hot chicken seasoning over the top. Add pickle slices for an extra tangy crunch.

10. Slice and Serve: Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing into pieces.
