Ingredients
– 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
– 2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1/2 cup powdered sugar, divided
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 2 cups milk
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup cornstarch
– 4 large egg yolks
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for pastry cream)
Instructions
Follow these steps to create the incredible Strawberry Napoleons Dessert:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Prepare Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle. Cut it into 6 equal pieces.
3. Bake Pastry Layers: Place the pastry pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prick each piece with a fork to prevent puffing too much. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, cool completely on a wire rack.
4. Make Pastry Cream: In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Allow it to cool.
5. Whip Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
6. Combine We& Cream: Once the pastry cream has cooled, gently fold in the whipped cream until well blended.
7. Assemble Napoleons: To assemble, place one layer of puff pastry on a serving plate. Spread a layer of pastry cream over it and top with a layer of sliced strawberries. Repeat with another layer of puff pastry and continue this process until you reach the desired height. Top the final layer with more pastry cream and strawberries.
8. Chill: Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set.
